It's A Great Day to Huarache!

Today is a two-run day because it's my day off, and it's also in the low 60s (aka warm). I just finished the first run and it went well. As you can see in the posted video, the huaraches worked great and this second pair is so much better than the first. Practice makes perfect! 3.67 miles according to mapmyrun.com-a very useful site-in 26:23, making the avg pace 7:11 per mile. I'm also running with Cybil later and I'm sure exactly how long that run will be, but I'm guessing 5-7 miles. That's all I got right now. Keep following to see how much Dave runs Memphis...

Resuming Normal Run Schedule

Thanks to a clean bill of health, I'm able to start my training back and ease into full gear. Goal for next week is only 25 miles, but I'm looking to do most of these in my huaraches or gel-hyperspeeds. In terms of diet, I'm still just trying to stick mostly to rice, beans, and lay off the red meat. Eggs and chia seeds have also become a staple in my diet, as of late.
Although the muscles on the top of my right foot are a bit tender from jumping back into the Tarahumara running technique after being sick for 6 days, (and not running) I'm optimistic about what the future holds and am excited to run the Mike Cody 4 mile Classic in February. But I might hop in a 5k during Christmas or something like that, just as a workout. That's all for now,

Chunder Tonight

Tonight was Chunder, a glorious tradition of my former cross country program. For obvious reasons, I can't say the name of my school but it was a good time had by all. I ran the 2 mile course, including drinking time in 15:57, it wasn't my best time but I was just trying to have fun, not win. Plus I got 4th overall, so not too bad in that respect.
The highlight of the day for me though, was my new pair of huaraches that I made this morning. After learning from some mistakes on my first pair, I am confident this new pair will hold up very well. For today, I believe I ran about 3 miles. After having a mild case of the flu last week, I had not run since Friday.

First post.

This is my first post of my blog about the goings-on of my running experiences and experiments in the Memphis area and beyond. No running today though, I'm still a bit sick from a mild flu-like virus over the weekend.
